Are your kids eligible for FREE dental?
The Australian Dental Association recommends that children under 18 years of age should have their dental check-up every 6-12 months. To help parents give their kids a lifetime of healthy smiles and good oral habits, the government offers the Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS), which offers access to $1,000 worth of dental services over two years for each eligible child.
This means that your child’s dental appointments could cost you NOTHING out of pocket.
It’s not just standard check-ups that the CDBS will cover; it can be used on a range of different services, including x-rays, cleaning, fissure sealing, fillings, root canals, and extractions.
Your children may be eligible if:
- They’re under 18 years old, and they qualify for Medicare, AND
- They or their parents get a qualifying payment from Centrelink at least once in the calendar year.
Call us to find out more about the qualifying payments.
How to claim?
Let us know if you want to use the Medicare Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS). We will check for your eligibility and your balance. We process claims on the spot so there’s nothing else for you to do!Your Toddler’s First Visit to Dainty Dental Care
We want to make your child’s first dental visit as positive and stress-free as possible.
We recommend starting around age two, whether they watch you get your teeth cleaned or have their own teeth gently polished. It’s a great way for us to check their teeth and gums early on.
During the visit, we’ll answer any questions and see how their teeth are developing. We’ll also share tips on brushing and keeping their teeth healthy.
Our goal is to make every visit smooth, with plenty of care and understanding. Starting early helps kids feel comfortable with the dentist, so there’s no anxiety as they grow.
It’s not just about having a kid-friendly space—we make it fun!

Frequently Asked Questions
At what age should my child first visit the dentist?
The Australian Dental Association recommends that a child’s first dental visit should occur by their first birthday or when their first tooth appears.
How often should my child see the dentist?
Regular dental check-ups are recommended every six months for children. However, the frequency may vary based on individual oral health needs.
Is fluoride safe for my child?
Fluoride is safe and effective in preventing tooth decay. Many Australian water supplies contain optimal levels of fluoride, but your dentist may recommend additional fluoride treatment based on individual needs.
When should my child start brushing their teeth?
Parents should begin cleaning their baby’s gums with a soft cloth even before teeth emerge. Once the teeth appear, brushing them with a soft toothbrush and a tiny amount of fluoride toothpaste is recommended.
Are baby teeth important since they eventually fall out?
Yes, baby teeth are crucial for proper speech development, eating habits, and guiding permanent teeth into place. Early loss of baby teeth due to decay can lead to dental issues.
